Highway 385 Bluegrass Band Member Dan SteermanSinging and playing mandolin, banjo, guitar for Highway 385, Dan Steerman's motto in life is "If you have time to say it, you surely have time to sing it." He credits his love for music to his mom and dad, who listened to it all day long in Fort Lupton, where he grew up. His dad and uncle began playing as kids and are still playing today at ages 76 and 72. He started playing Bluegrass in 1977 after going to his first festival where he listened to J.D. Crowe and the New South, Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass, and Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, who made it look so easy and fun.
